The Lion's Club Fish Derby began February 7th and culminates on the 15th with lunch at Nelsen's Hall followed by B-I-N-G-O. At noon the winners of the derby are announced. Entries can be displayed outside of Nelsen’s for the following: northern, trout/salmon, perch, lawyer, and walleye plus a 1st prize for the largest whitefish.  All entrants for the contest must be registered at Karly’s, Middle Bar II, Nelsen’s Hall, KK Fiske or Mann’s Mercantile prior to the beginning of the contest.

There is a Chili Dump fundraiser sponsored by the Art and Nature Center on February
7th from 6-8:30 P.M.

On February 14th the annual Ice Party will be held on the ice in Detroit Harbor. This is a family affair that starts at 1 P.M. and goes til everyone goes home. There is a big bonfire, food (bring a dish), beverages, some sale items and fun. There is usually ice cleared for skating and saucer rides for the kids.

The Washington Island Chamber of Commerce sponsored Chili Cook-off will be held on Saturday, February 14th at Karly’s. All entries have to be submitted by 11 A.M. in order to be judged. 

A Valentine’s Day Pancake Breakfast will be held at the Community Center on Saturday the 14th. It is sponsored by the 7th and 8th grade students for their Washington D.C. trip. Serving 7 A.M. to 10 A.M.
