Those attending the Florida-Island Party were: Donna and Larry Russell, and Grace Ann and Barry Carpenter who organized it, after many years of Lois and Larry Harvell doing it, since Jay Hagen's death. Lou and Gloria Small, Deb Clarke, Cynthia Bowen, Bev Cook, Kathleen Dixon, Pastor Frank and Mary Maxwell, Larry and Carol Johnson, Steve and Marge Tobey, Bob Kelly, Bonnie and Andy Munao, Jeanette and Andrea Munao, Larry Harvell, and Ken and Linda Henning, and Peg Matthews, a guest from the park. This event is held every year on February 22, Washington's actual birthday. The picnic was begun over thirty years ago by Jay Hagen, but after Jay's death Lois Harvell, who wintered in Sarasota, along with husband Larry, carried on the
tradition.  For many years they coordinated the picnic which was held in Punta Gorda  until  Lois passed away in 2014. Three years ago Grace Ann and Barry Carpenter, and Donna and Larry Russell became the coordinators of the event which was moved to Naples, where many Islanders spend the winter.
