Plum Island is now open to the public as the dock there has been repaired. Plum is one of several islands that are part of the Green Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Plum and Pilot Islands were added in 2007. Members of FOPPI, Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands, have been instrumental in raising funds and working to complete the restoration of the dock. FOPPI and Women in Restoration groups also take on other projects such as mowing walking paths, making and placing benches. There will be dock space for both public and commercial use. Public docking is on a “first come first serve” basis and commercial is by permit. For further information, go to FOPPI’s web site.
